On behalf of Peter Mudford FFIWA President.
Dear WA Fifteeners,
On Friday 24th May you would may have received an e-mail from Les Kearney, President of FFIA, outlining a proposal to change the qualifying event and qualifying process for the 2021 World Championship to include the 2020 Nationals as a qualifier (proposal from Les attached). Your FFIWA committee is strongly opposed to this proposal. This proposal has no plausible justification and has no support from the FFIWA or the majority of WA Fifteen sailors.
Fleet representatives in WA have replied to Les stating the opinion of the members in their respective fleets. Find a copy of their letters here and here. The messages are clear that our members are not happy with the proposal.
After having another conversation with Les on Saturday regarding the responses he had received from the WA fleet representatives, he was not convinced that this was the opinion of the majority in WA.
Les would like a response from all Flying Fifteen sailors in WA.
There has never been a more important time for you to be able to represent WA and have your input to such a controversial decision. Given the impact that this proposal would have on your chance of qualifying for the 2021 World Championship, I urge you to send an email to Les voicing your opposition to the proposal.
and sign it with your name at the bottom. I have done this to reduce the impact on your busy schedules.
Peter Mudford esc.
Dear Les Kearney,
I have read the correspondence from FFIA regarding the proposed changes to the 2021 Flying Fifteen World Championship qualifying events distributed by yourself. I do not believe that the changes proposed are in the best interest of Flying Fifteen sailing in Australia. I support the opinion of the FFIWA committee and my fleet representative.
