Much more sedate conditions for heats 5 and 6 with a 10 to 12 knot easterly breeze and smooth seas. Surprisingly, it didn’t rain which made for a clear sunny day with very high humidity. Ashley and Adam (Ff sake) and John and Dianna (Fast Lane 4) were equal to the first mark of heat

With none of the meteorological theatrics of yesterday, the waters off Sandgate delivered perfect Flying Fifteen sailing conditions with the first heat starting in a south easterly of just under 20 knots and a 1 metre swell. The wind and seas softened throughout the day to be about 10 knots by the conclusion of racing.

Heat 1 started in a pleasant 15 knot easterly (onshore) breeze with a confused sea. All was progressing to script until the second leg, a run, when the fleet was engulfed by a squall with gusts to 30 knots which brought a serious reshuffle to the fleet standings by the bottom mark.
