Much more sedate conditions for heats 5 and 6 with a 10 to 12 knot easterly breeze and smooth seas. Surprisingly, it didn’t rain which made for a clear sunny day with very high humidity.
Ashley and Adam (Ff sake) and John and Dianna (Fast Lane 4) were equal to the first mark of heat 5 and extended their lead over the rest of the fleet with Ff sake eventually getting the gun. Ten Pound Note ( Trevor Williamson and Damian Anderson ) from Victoria were third. Eagle Eye ( Karen and Russell ) was the first silver boat and 4th over the line. Rookie and Morton (Fflashpoint) had a race they would rather forget in 11th.
After a short delay, heat 6 got underway in about 8 knots of breeze but a 40 degree windshift to the north saw the race called off on the second lap with usual mix of smiles and frowns ! The restart had a tight bunch at the front in some quite shifty conditions and, after several lead changes, Aussie Falcon ( Dale Collings and Glenn Scheen) won and Ten Pound Note ( Trevor and Damian) were second. Ff sake ( Ashley and Adam) recovered after hitting the start mark to be third. Fflashpoint woke from their slumber to finish 5th and Eagle Eye was 7th. John and Dianna ( Fast Lane 4) went from chocolates to boiled lollies to be 10th.
With one race to go, Ff sake has secured the title but there’s still plenty of opportunities for the minor places.
