The French National Championships got underway on Monday night ( Perth time) with a “practice race” which, I think, is French for Invitation Race. Western Australian results as follows: 6^th - AUS3797 David Swan and Matt Elliot from Esperance Bay Yacht Club 7^th – AUS3845 John Hassen and Tony Finch from South of Perth Yacht Club 12^th – AUS3775 Phillippa Packer and dean McCaullay from Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club 14^th – AUS3879 Kim Peaker and Neil White from South of Perth Yacht Club 18^th – AUS3989 John Wilson and Matt Summers from Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club 19^th – AUS3800 Mark Gooding and Michael Gooding from South of Perth Yacht Club 20^th AUS3964 Simon Lucas and Aileen Lucas from Princess Royal Sailing Club There was a large contingent of retirees (DNF) which included AUS3855 Peter Rooke and Martin Arrowsmith so, I’m sure, there would be a story behind that. Australian competitors are evenly spread down the score sheet after the first 2 heats sailed on Tuesday night ( Perth time). No surprises that current World Champions Graham Vials and Chris Turner sit at the top of the list.
