Due to lack of numbers, the costs associated with running an offshore event out of Fremantle Sailing Club, and clashes with the AFL Grand Final, the 2021/2022 Tally Hobbs series will now be sailed at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on Sunday September 26 and Monday September 27, 2021.
An updated Notice of Race is available here.
Registrations are being accepted here. Note that if you have previously entered for the event at Fremantle Sailing Club you will need to enter again. There is now no entry fee for the regatta. Those that paid their entry fee for the Fremantle Sailing Club event will have their entry fee refunded.
Sailing will take place in the main body of Freshwater Bay (not the Bay of Pigs) which is quite satisfactory for Windward return racing. First warning signal each day is at 09:30 hrs. We must clear the water for East Fremantle YC on Sunday afternoon from around 1:00 to 2:00 depending upon when they arrive in the Bay.
We will endeavour to facilitate a tow for at least part of the journey from SoPYC to Freshwater Bay if conditions require. There is also the option to sail your boat down on Saturday and bring your trailer around by road to save sailing back and forth, please advise Sharon Skinner at RFBYC is this is your intent as we have ongoing wharf reconstruction which has affected hard stand availability.
The aim is for four races each day followed immediately by important re-hydration on the wharf before heading home or upstairs for further nourishment and socialisation.
The club requires a minimum of 12 entries to facilitate the regatta so if you intend to partake please enter asap.
If there’s insufficient interest we’ll have to cancel altogether and look for a later alternative.
