Are you curious about what it is like to sail in a Flying Fifteen? Or know someone who is?
This is your chance to have a short sail in a Flying Fifteen and find out for yourself.
Come down to the Centreboard clubhouse at South of Perth Yacht Club on Sunday 24th November from 10.30 am and one of our fleet will take you out on their boat for a spin. Wear shorts, a rash top or similar and trainers. Buoyancy vests will be provided.
The Flying Fifteen is an easy boat to sail and is forgiving for new sailors. The weight of the keel means that the boat will never capsize - unlike dinghy sailing. So if you have never sailed, but are interested in learning how to get started, come down and have a go.
The Flying Fifteen is also sufficiently challenging to sail fast to keep experienced sailors interested. So if the kids have grown up and you are looking to get back into sailing or are simply looking for a new sailing challenge, come down and experience for yourself the reason why so many of our fleet have chosen the Flying Fifteen after sailing in other classes of boat.
But it’s not all about sailing! The Flying Fifteen fleet prides itself on its spirit of community and camaraderie. We will be putting on a sausage sizzle during the event, so feel free to bring the family and experience this for yourself.
Still keen? Come down and meet our fleet volunteers on Sunday 24th November from 10.30 am. Or contact Andrew (the South of Perth Yacht Club fleet rep) for a chat on 0408 932 516 or sopycf15@gmail.com.

John Hassen is delighted to advise the four donated Flying Fifteen shipped by the SoPYC Flying Fifteen Section have safely arrived at Salt Spring Island Sailing Club, which is on a small island off Vancouver Island in Canada. Thanks again to the yacht donors and to all who helped with this project to give these yachts a “new” life.
The unloading logistics at the Salt Spring Island end looked challenging with no container side loaders or loading dock involved. They used a forklift, a crane and lots of community help to get everything out of the box which was up in the air on the back of a flat bed truck.. We are relieved the boats and gear all got there safely and will be racing in the not too distant future.
